A 240 t haul truck: weight, cost and maintenance
Truck prices, pack costs, cycle life and maintenance behind the comparison.

- Truck price: US$5.3m for a diesel 240 t truck, delivered and assembled, from 2022–25 mine feasibility studies. The electric truck is assumed 30% dearer including its first pack (ITK assumption).
- Packs: US$200/kWh; 6,000 charge cycles central, 3,000 conservative (ITK assumptions).
- Weight: Liebherr lists the same 176 t empty weight and 240 t payload for its diesel and battery T 264, so no payload penalty.
- Running cost: tyres, chassis and insurance US$190 an hour for either truck. Drivetrain maintenance US$65 an hour diesel, US$20 electric; the electric figure is an unverified ITK assumption.
